Top Right: This is a girl and her pack dog. Although about a dozen kids started the hike, Joel said that all of them he saw didn't reach the peak--they all started going back down before reaching it.
Bottom Left: Here are the girls and I in the car as Joel left.
Bottom Right: This is a picture of the trail that is particularly steep (the switchbacks).

The bottom-right picture was taken from the very beginning of the switchbacks. I am looking down at the trail behind me. If you look at the upper left-side of that photo, you can see the trail continuing a couple miles back.
In the masses back there was also a nun in full outfit hiking up the mountain (can't see her in this photo though). I think she made it almost to where I was sitting before she turned around to go back.
