That's right, as this presidential campaign is wrapping up, I am announcing my campaign. No, I am not running for president in 2012, I am launching a campaign to END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS!! That's right, as of right now, I am going to do everything in my power to end this abomination to parents of growing children.
Why do we even have Daylight Savings?
It began in the United States during World War I, primarily to save fuel by reducing the need to use artificial lighting. Hellooooo??? WWI ended in 1918--90 years ago! If you still want to save money, go out and buy some darn Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs.
Why is Daylight Savings bad?
I am not arguing specifically against Daylight Savings time; I just want one consistent time ALL year long. No changing time, just pick one and stick with it. I am always hearing "consistency is the key to success." America wants to be successful, right? Well lets be consistent on our time then!
Why am I so passionate about creating one consistent time?
Because I was woken up at 5:15 am by a baby who thought it was time to get up. She was followed by her older sisters who woke up at 6:15. I know all moms and dads across the country will agree with me--three or four weeks of babies and kids being off schedule isn't worth whatever trivial gain we get by "springing forward" or "falling back." Heck, I just might get so much support for my campaign that I COULD run for president. This just might be the issue that unites us as a nation.
So lets all join together and end this abomination to parents!!
PS--Cristy, come March, when the time changes and you have a one month old baby and you are getting ready to go back to work, you will wish that you had some sympathy for Laura instead of playing devil's advocate and supporting Daylight Savings. Ohhhh, you're going to get your comeuppance. ;-)
PPS--Hey Jay, since I just insulted your wife, can you do me a favor? If anyone is going to take my campaign seriously, I am going to need a logo. Do you think that you could work on that for me? ;-)
PPPS--To be taken really seriously, I need a good campaign chant. Any good ideas out there?!?

Wendy, what can I say? I REALLY needed that extra hour of sleep. Ever since the time change, I've been going to sleep at 9 instead of 10 ('cause it is really 10). I guess I haven’t adapted to the time change yet either.
