In movies when they have a scene that includes street performers, they always have a mime that is mimicking someone's actions. If the person sneezes, the mime sneezes. If the person starts to get angry, the mime gets angry. Well, there are days when I feel like I am living with one of those mimes, except that my mime talks and is only 2 years old.
Madeleine has really started mimicking everything that Joel and I do now. If I get a glass of water, she wants a glass of water. If I talk baby talk to Miriam, she talks baby talk to Miriam. If I put on my shoes, she puts on her shoes.
Sometimes it's funny. The other day I was standing next to a chair and noticed that I needed to tie my shoe. So I lifted my foot and put it on the chair so that I could tie it without having to bend all the way down. A little while later I caught Madeleine trying to do the same thing (which was hilarious since the seat of the chair was above her waist).
Sometimes it is annoying. I will ask her what she wants to drink and she will say juice or milk. After I get her drink, I will get myself a glass of water. At that point she suddenly changes her mind and just has to have a glass of water. I know, though, that she will only take a couple of drinks of the water and then go back to her original drink. But over all it is pretty funny seeing my grown up actions being re-enacted by a two year-old.
