Long story short, the chair was about 3 feet from where I thought it was. The bouncy seat survived my unexpectedly landing on it. Miriam stayed secure in my arms (and was seemingly oblivious to the whole incident). And it is two days later and I am still having trouble sitting down because my tailbone hurts.
