On Wednesday Miriam turned 9 months old. And she was cranky and fussy and clingy--totally unlike herself. And she was that way for three days. I figured that it was just the traveling. But yesterday (Saturday) she woke up and was still cranky, fussy, and clingy. While holding her I got a glimpse in her mouth and finally I saw the cause of all the problem--two little white teeth breaking through the skin. Finally at nine months old she gets her first teeth. And I think that the top two will make an appearance any day now.
This month has been full of activity for her. She is crawling (kind of--she refuses to get up on her knees and just pulls herself around on her belly). She is pulling her self up to standing (she did that on June 28) and she will even take a few steps while holding on to things. I think that she is going to go straight from "army" crawling to walking. Who knows, maybe she will even walk before she is one.
She is also eating real food. She refuses to eat baby food--she won't eat baby cereal or jarred baby food. She won't even eat the good stuff like bananas and fruit. And she won't eat food that I puree. She wants food with some texture. I have been giving her oatmeal and soft veggies cut up real small. The funny thing is that she has been eating all this real food without teeth--she just gums it. She is a funny girl.
Miriam's favorite activity is still harassing Madeleine. And now that Miriam is mobile she is really good at it. I think that it is great--Madeleine needs a taste of her own medicine ;-)
