Shoes

Some of you have heard me complain about Madeleine and her shoes--you guys know how frustrated I have been. Madeleine insists on taking her shoes off as soon as we get into the car. It doesn't matter if we are driving 1 mile or 100 miles, her shoes come off as soon as I put the key into the ignition. This became especially problematic over the summer (sandals are much easier to remove than tennis shoes).

I don't know what happened but last week she stopped taking her shoes off in the car! I think that my constant badgering finally sunk in:-)

But the best news of all is that she can now put on her own shoes!!! The above picture is of her putting them on. The other day, while we were at the zoo, she took off her shoes. When I tried to help her put them back on, she insisted on doing it herself. And she was actually able to do it. Wow! To a mom, this is a big deal--finally she can do something productive when we are getting ready to leave. No longer do I have to get 3 people completly ready--Madeleine can now put on her own shoes. It is the first step on the road to dressing herself!
