Losing my mind

I remember being a teenager and wondering how parents could be so dense. I remember dad telling me the same story for the 600th time--as a teenager I wondered how he could forget telling me that story!! I now understand. I forget everything. I lost the trash can today--I lost a 2 1/2 foot white plastic trash can in a 2 bedroom apartment. I took the trash out from under the sink, I put the trash bag on the porch, and when I went back to the kitchen there was no trash can. And no, I didn't put it on the porch. And I can't blame this on the girls--they were asleep.

So some how, while walking the 10 to 15 feet from the kitchen to the porch, I lost a trash can. Obviously, at some point I got side tracked and set the trash can some where. But I have no memory of going anywhere besides the porch and the kitchen. Pretty soon I will be telling the girls this story for the 600th time and they will be rolling their eyes at me. And I will wonder why they are rolling their eyes because I will think that it is the first time that they have ever heard this story.
