Preschoolers have a tendency to be slightly absolute and over dramatic. Madeleine has definitely entered this phase of development. She no longer "wants" things, she "NEEDS" them. In fact she refuses to say "want" at all. If she doesn't "want" something, she just says "I DON'T."
Here are some out takes of recent conversations to illustrate.
She has a sore in her mouth that bothers her when she eats. Today she told me, "I can't eat ANYTHING! I am just going to STARVE!"
When asked if she had an accident in her pants, she responded, "I am NOT a baby! I DON'T EVER have accidents."
She is also dramatic over good things. Today she told me, "These are the BEST cookies EVER!"
This phase completely cracks me up. Things are no longer ordinary--every small event has major meaning to her. She has finally learned how to express an opinion and she is going to make sure that I understand just how important her opinion is.
