It is almost 10:30 AM and it is looking like we are stranded in Clayton, NM for another night. Fortunately today the local businesses are opening. So at least we can go out for lunch. Or, if we get really desperate, we can abandon the kids and hit the local bar.
The weather has cleared up but now we are waiting on crews to come dig us out. There are two ways for us to get out of town and over to the interstate. Apparently, one way is blocked by a jack-knifed semi and about 50 stranded vehicles. The other way is blocked by 14 foot snow drifts. At least we are lucky not to be one of those that got stranded in our cars for 2 days. Or one of the 90 plus people who are having to sleep on pews at the local Baptist church. Or one of the 80 or so people that hiked to some isolated farm house and are now stranded there with no food. We are very fortunate to have a warm, comforatable place to stay.
