What happens when mama turns her back for a few minutes?

The reason that I haven't been writing on my blog is because I have been busy getting the house settled (remember we moved into a new house a couple of weeks before Christmas). Yesterday my grandmother asked me what I do with the girls while I am working on the house. Well I just let them play. And usually that works out OK. But sometimes I have incidents like the one above. If you can't tell, Miriam is drinking SYRUP! It had gotten unnaturally quiet the other day, and I came down stairs to find this. The syrup was in the pantry on a fairly high shelf--so I imagine that Miriam had a partner in crime.

All in all, though, the girls are pretty good while I am working. They haven't broken anything, they haven't really hurt each other, and they haven't destroyed the house. So I can handle the occasional nip on the syrup bottle, the can of pickled beats in the bookcase, the coat hangers that somehow mysteriously end up on the stairs to the basement, and the many other wacky things that I find out of place. I figure that those are pretty fair trades for my lack of constant supervision.
