I want to ride the bus

Almost two weeks a go I decided to make an unplanned trip to Lubbock to see my family. While we were there, my Granddad decide come back with us in order to work on our unfinished basement bathroom (I will write more about that in another post later).

Today the girls and I took him to the airport so that he could return home. After we dropped him off at the airport, Madeleine became fixated on riding a bus. I tried everything to change her mind or divert her attention--I explained how we were driving our car and had to take it home. I said that the weather was bad so we couldn't stop to ride a bus. I started singing silly songs. I turned the radio up extra loud. We stopped and got a snack. But nothing would distract her from her mission. She REALLY wanted to ride a bus.

Since we are having bad weather, the car ride to the airport was extra long (over an hour). After 45 minutes of discussing/arguing/ignoring her request to ride a bus, I was pretty tired of listening to her go on and on about this bus ride. So I resorted to last thing I could think of--fake burping. Because, you know, nothing is more funny to 3 year olds than their mom fake burping. So I, Wendy Johnson, at age 32, resorted to fake burping in order to change the subject. Wow, where did my self respect go to?

PS--So far it has been over 2 hours since she mentioned bus rides.
