18 months

Yesterday was Miriam's 18 month birthday. And today she had her checkup and shots at the doctor. She currently weighs 24 1/2 pounds and is 31 1/2 inches tall--since she turned one she has gained 3 1/2 pounds and grown 2 inches. For her age she is completely average size for a girl (she is about in the 50th percentile for height and weight).

These past 6 months she has really been growing and maturing. She has lost some of her baby looks--she doesn't have quite so much baby fat and is looking more like a little girl. She is also talking our ears off. She says over 20 words including (mommy, daddy, grandpa, grandma, Madeleine, ball, juice, cookie, blankie, baby, puppy, more, please, thank you, up, hi, bye, that, go, diaper, nose, mouth, eyes, shoe, sock, and a few more that I can't think of).

She also says some sentences: "I want..." is her favorite sentence. "Let's go bye-bye" is her next favorite. And "I go..." is her third favorite.

And, like most little ones her age, she has no fear. She is constantly climbing, running, jumping, spinning, throwing, falling, etc. If I remember correctly from when Madeleine was little, this is one of the hardest phases from now until 2 1/2. For the next year or so I expect her to be into everything and try (unsuccessfully most of the time) to tell me about everything. All that means lots of bumps and bruises and temper tantrums. But it also means, new discoveries every day and lots of fun.
