Boating Trip

Saturday we had a great day. For breakfast we drove over to Breckenridge. And then we decided to drive over to Roosevelt National Park, and go to the lake that is just outside of it. We stopped in Grand Lake and grabbed some snacks for lunch. And then we rented a boat. This was the girls first boat ride. Madeleine has been begging to ride a boat since last May (when Joel and his brothers rented a boat while they were on Jim's bachelor party trip). We rented a pontoon boat--just a nice slow boat for cruising around.

The lake was beautiful. It is in a valley surrounded by mountains. And in the lake are several small islands that you can dock at and go explore. The weather was a little chilly but that was good--hardly anyone else was out on the lake. The girls had so much fun. We even let them man the steering wheel. Don't worry, when Miriam was "driving" the boat was actually turned off. But Madeleine did steer some while we were going slowly.

Then to top off our wonderful day, we got to see a moose eating on the side of the road. And then we drove over to Winter Park for dinner. And this is why we love Colorado.
