Miriam turns 2!!

Miriam's second birthday was Friday Oct. 5. But we waited until the following Saturday to celebrate so that Jay and Cristy could join us for the fun. And it was a blast (for everyone but me--who spent most of the day in bed with the worst morning sickness EVER). Fortunately, having house guest meant having lots of help. Cristy baked the cake, Joel iced it, and Jay decorated it. All I had to do was dig out the candles and the matches.

I really can't believe that Miriam is two now. It seems like just a few months ago she was learning to crawl and walk. But in many ways she seems so much older than two. She talks as well as Madeleine did at 3. She runs and plays with all the big kids. And overall she is very independent and self sufficient for someone who just turned two. When we go out, people always assume that she is three and are surprised when I tell them that she is two.

The bad part of her turning two is that over the past month or so she has taken her independence to a whole new level. I know that all of you parents know this stage--her favorite answer is "No!," she wants to "Do it MYSELF!," and she has generally entered the 'terrible two's." But so far she is much easier going than Madeleine was at this age. I will just keep hoping that she stays so easy going.
