Basically I am now 9 months pregnant (or I will be on Thursday). Being this far along I have learned/relearned many lessons that apply to the very end of pregnancy. Here are a few for you to enjoy.
--Never peer into a blender that is plugged in when you have a huge belly. I decided to check the consistency of a strawberry smoothie that I was making. I took the lid off and peered down inside. Right at that moment my big belly hit the "On" switch. I ended up with a strawberry shower.
--Never use the small public restroom stalls; stick with the handicap stall. I always have at least one girl in the restroom with me. The other day I accidentally knocked Miriam off of the seat and into the toilet with my belly while we were in one of those little stalls. Miriam already had a fear of public restrooms and now it is even worse.
--Stick with eating smaller portions. With a 5 or more pound baby in my belly there is really not much room for food.
--Use the restroom every time you walk by. A baby doing handstands on your bladder is no laughing matter.
--Always have a step stool handy. Maybe this is only for the short and pregnant, but my big belly has shortened my reach by several inches. Things that used to be easily within reach are now impossible for me to get. And little Amanda gets a pretty darn angry when I start leaning my belly up against stuff.
--Don't try to carry a toddler. Miriam was upset the other day and without thinking I picked her up to console her. Once I had her in the air I realized that I didn't have any place to hold her--my belly was in the way. The same goes for the letting a toddler sit in my lap--there is just no lap to sit in anymore.
