Amanda is a terrific baby. She rarely cries and only cries when she is hungry or tired. Joel and I wanted to have a night out last night. We had a babysitter come watch the big girls and, since she is such a good baby, we took Amanda with us. We had reservations at a really nice place. The minute we sat down at our table, Amanda started screaming.
Not wanting to disturb the other customers, I took her outside. After a few minutes, Joel came out to check on us. Amanda calmed down and we went back inside. We walked 4 feet into the restaurant and she started screaming. Back out we went. After she calmed down, we went back in. This time we only got 2 feet into the place before she started screaming. We ended up just leaving. We thought that maybe the smell of the place bothered her (it had a strong smell of smoked meat).
We drove over to another nice place we had heard about. This place was supposed to be very quiet and nice. We went in and the baby was sleeping peacefully. They sat us, brought our water, and the waitress came over to discuss the menu. Amanda started screaming. This time we just left immediately.
By now we were getting hungry. We decided we would just go somewhere casual where it would be OK for her to cry some (or at least some place with loud music to cover her crying). We headed over to Texas Roadhouse. We walked in, sat down, ordered a drink, and Amanda was great. She just sat there smiling. We got an appetizer and she was great while we ate it and our salads. Overall she was really good there--she cried some when we got our steaks but quieted down when we held her.
Joel and I have a theory about why she was crying. We think that she just wanted to go to some place Texan and wasn't going to settle for some fancy, European food. Hey, we all get a little home sick. And then she was just jealous that we were getting to eat steak while she was stuck with milk.

Tell Amanda to use her words.
