As many of you already know, Madeleine lost her first tooth last week. Last Saturday, she was eating corn on the cob when she suddenly gasped and grabbed her mouth. I got her to move her hand and I saw that her bottom tooth was totally crooked!
My first reaction was "Oh my gosh!! I need a dentist." Then it dawned on me that she is in kindergarten and this is what happens when you are that age--you lose your teeth. After that she refused to eat any more. I explained that some time that day or the next the tooth would get loose enough and I would pull it out for her. Then I demonstrated how to pull it out.
Later during my nap, she wokes me up. She was grabbing her mouth and looked completely shocked "I pulled it out!!" Then she burst into tears. She quickly got over her fright when she realized how excited I was for her. What a big girl--she pulled out her own tooth.
