Oh how I love afternoon nap time! I have finally worked it to where I can get both girls down for a nap at 1 every afternoon. For those 1 to 2 hours I get one small window of time by myself. Finally I can do all the things I have been dreaming of! For example, I can
- Use the bathroom without having to fend off a 2 year-old intent on flushing the toilet while I am still on it.
- Drink a Diet Coke without having to pretend to “share” it with Madeleine (she is easily fooled by diluted apple juice and a tablespoon or two of Coke).
- Sit in silence. Or maybe read a book.
- Get on the computer (which is IMPOSSIBLE with Madeleine).
I have been doing everything I can to guard this time. We run errands early in the morning (Madeleine won’t sleep if she gets too tired). We eat lunch early so that the burst of energy from the food has time to wear off. I stop giving her juice at 12:30 to prevent excessively wet diapers. And, if I can think of anything else to keep nap time running smoothly, I will do it!
Oh, how I hope this nap time continues, but I fear one day Madeleine may decide that she too old for naps—please, please let her keep napping for another year or two :-)
