Miriam has a very vivid imagination. Not only does she imagine great scenarios, she also carries her scenarios through to the extreme. For the past two days we have been the bird family. Yesterday morning she woke up and, as I was getting her dressed, she told me she was a bird.
"What kind of bird?"
"A baby bird."
"Oh, OK."
"And your the mommy bird."
Shortly afterwards, I called her by her name. She told me, "No, I am Baby Bird!"
She continued throughout the yesterday and today calling me Mommy Bird and wanting me to call her Baby Bird. Joel is Daddy Bird and Madeleine is Sister Bird. She has purple and pink feathers. She also drinks baby bird drinks that taste like lemon. I drink mommy bird drinks that taste like strawberries.
My favorite part though is when she comes up and says, "I love you Mommy Bird." Also, I really need to get a video of her being a bird. She "flies" by holding her arms straight up over her head and flaps her hands as she twirls around. I will try over the next couple of days to get some video--she's so cute that everyone needs to see it ;-)
The funny part of it all is how seriously she takes this. When she is in Baby Bird mode, I can't call her by her name--I have to call her Baby Bird. And everything she does is bird related. She really gets into the story.
