Below is an overview of the current state of my kitchen. Notice the fridge and dishwasher sitting out in the middle. Also note that there is no microwave up and all my cabinets are empty.
All these blue containers below are the contents of my cabinets. Why did I think that I needed more cabinets when I could just buy some lovely blue plastic containers?!?
This is the base of my future hutch. It is 3 ft. wide and will be as high as the rest of the cabinets.
This is the new island--it is 5ft long!! I can't wait. Notice the dishwasher and fridge behind it. That is DEFINITELY not were they belong. The fridge won't fit in the space where it belongs. You might be thinking "Don't they know you are supposed to measure those things?!?" We did measure and then the delivery men measured. We all just knew that it would fit. We all measured from the back of the space. What we didn't measure was the front opening--it is 1/2 inch narrower than the back. Fortunately, my cabinet maker can adjust the existing cabinets to allow for the space. But, until he fixes it, my fridge is out in the middle of the room. At least it is plugged in, and I don't have to run to the garage every time the kids need milk.
This is a closeup of my beautiful fridge. We could have exchanged it for a smaller fridge. But it wasn't what we wanted. I am just looking forward to ice. I haven't had ice since for 3 weeks--I am too cheap and lazy to go buy ice or ice trays.
Ohhhh, here is my wonderful oven. Look how smooth the top is!! And it preheats so fast! Obviously I have broken it in by cooking a few things.
But we haven't hooked up the microwave. We are trying to make it easier on the cabinet guy--he won't have to be careful about it as he works.
